WHAT WE DO
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
The BreakDown STL Leadership Team is a group of high school and college age students who have been selected after going through an extensive audition process. Once selected they receive weekly character and leadership training while being raised up to be servant leaders and role models in the community. The BreakDown STL Leadership Team members then “give back” by being part of one of our community outreach programs: OnStage Presentation team, OffStage Peer Mentor team or Creative team.
OnStage
DRAMA I DANCE I VOCALS I SPOKEN WORD
OnStage is a high energy multimedia program that uses the contemporary teen voice to teach positive health behaviors in middle and high schools, youth groups and churches. Our 90-minute professional presentation is honest and hard-hitting in navigating the tough topics of self-harm, pornography, suicide, dating violence, addiction, cyber/bullying, anxiety, etc. Our non-threatening, peer-to-peer approach, emboldens even the most skeptical teens to value themselves and their long-term wellness. All teens leave with a challenge: regardless of their past choices, make a choice NOW to live your future life without regret.
OffStage
PEER MOBILIZERS
OffStage is a follow-up peer-to-peer mentor program that meets within participating schools on a monthly basis. The OffStage program dives deeper into the topics covered in the OnStage presentation by facilitating interactive preventative health education activities. Students are given an opportunity to come together in a safe and confidential environment and discuss the struggles they are currently facing. While navigating the tough issues teens face on a daily basis, the OffStage program challenges students to build healthy relationships, set boundaries, build character, and acquire leadership skills.
